Custom Yard Drainage SOLUTIons That Work

Expertly Designed Drainage Systems to Keep Your Yard Dry and Foundation Safe

No two Illinois yards are the same — and neither are drainage problems. Whether you’re dealing with pooling water, soggy soil, or runoff threatening your foundation, we’ll design a drainage system tailored to your property. Our solutions combine modern materials, proven methods, and local expertise to handle Chicagoland’s heavy rains and clay-heavy soil.

French Drains

We install professional French drain systems that collect groundwater through a gravel-filled trench and redirect it away from your home. Perfect for properties with persistent saturation or waterlogged lawn areas.

Underground Drainage Systems

Our underground drainage solutions discreetly move water away from your lawn and foundation without disrupting your landscape. This includes subsurface piping connected to drain tiles, downspouts, or catch basins.

Sump Pump Drain Tiles

For homes with sump pumps, we can install or upgrade exterior drain tile systems that ensure water is efficiently routed away from your foundation — helping prevent basement flooding and hydrostatic pressure.

Catch Basins

These in-ground drainage boxes collect surface water from low spots and driveways, channeling it into underground piping. They’re ideal for preventing puddling in flat or poorly graded yards.

Underground Downspout Extensions

We bury downspout lines to direct roof runoff safely away from your home’s foundation. No more tripping over splash blocks or worrying about erosion where water hits the ground.

Lawn Regrading & Swales

We regrade your lawn or install shallow swales (grass-lined drainage channels) to guide rainwater away from your home naturally. This is especially important in older Chicagoland neighborhoods with poor grading and clay heavy soil.

Dry Wells

Our dry well installations collect and slowly disperse excess water into the surrounding soil, preventing oversaturation in trouble spots. A great eco-friendly option for yards with slow-draining soil.

...And More!

From permeable pavers to erosion control and full drainage redesigns, we offer a wide range of custom drainage options to keep your home safe and your yard dry year-round.

Hired this company for doing buried sump pump drainage. I would highlight the responsiveness and good communicating style of their office. Field workers did good job and completed project in 2 days. After initial misunderstanding, Patrick got in touch with me and resolved the matter related to the village fees and business license charge.

This place is amazing. We had a pretty big project done. French drain in the backyard, which included a 155 foot trench and lots of concrete work. We had a patio, garage floor, back sidewalk, driveway, (huge extension) front porch, stoop and front sidewalk all removed and redone. It came out beautifully. We are very pleased. Patrick, the owner is such a nice man. His crews were professional, courteous, polite, friendly, knowledgeable and on time. They all worked hard and worked very well together. The girls in the office are friendly and helpful. We had a couple delays but that was the village inspector, not Revive Your Lawns fault. We couldn't be happier. Even their clean up was fabulous. 5 stars for sure.

Our experience with Revive Your Lawn & Trimlight Chicago has been very positive. They installed a drainage line for our sump pump into the city storm sewer, and connected drains from low spots in the yard and from 2 downspouts. The work is done professionally, and ground repairs are done well. They also installed 4 Chanticleer Pear trees in our backyard, with surrounding finely ground brown mulch ground cover, and landscape lighting. Absolutely beautiful! They seeded necessary places in front of the landscaped areas, and even in other areas of the lawn where they noticed it was needed. We had a couple of issues with how some of the work was done, so we contacted them, and they were very responsive in coming back out and making the corrections we requested. Overall, we are very pleased with the work Revive Your Lawn & Trim Light Chicago has completed for us. Their salesman, Mitch Burns, was great to work with for planning the project, and their operations staff did a great job keeping us informed about when the work was being done. It took about 3-4 weeks after signing the contract for them to start. The work team was very nice and responsive to all of our requests. One of them told my wife that they want to make sure the customer is pleased, and that's all that matters. They definitely earn the 5 Star rating!

I hired Revive for a drainage project as well as landscape project. Mitch was great to deal with for both projects providing options and staying on budget. Edgar got our landscaping project completed ahead of schedule which was great. All workers were great and the finished product looks exactly as Mitch diagramed. Would highly recommend for anyone with drainage issues or in need of landscaping work.

We have had a history of flooding in our backyard. After having a french drain installed (another company), we thoght that our issue was solved. However the houses on both sides of ours were remodeled and new issues arose. Because of changes in village codes regarding downspout disconnection, sump pumps and ejector pumps our yard began flooding again. We spoke to the village, several other landscaping companies and then we met Mitch from Revive Your Lawn. He was very friendly, informative and willing to work with us. After reviewing 2 different proposals we chose one for our yard. Our project required new soil to improve the pitch and sod. In the back of the yard and behind the garage beds were created using fabric, red pavers and river rock. Pablo and his crew worked tirelessly in the heat of the day. They did an excellent job. Edgar the project manager checked in and Joycelyn from the office kept us informed. We are very happy that we chose Revive Your Lawn.

We recently had a dry well installed to receive the output of our sump pump .We had problems with too much water on our backyard lawn. The crew work quickly and completed the project according to our contract. The crew were helpful and pleasant as they explained their activity. They made sure to clean up the work area and any debris from our driveway. Sod was replaced and appears as though no excavation had occurred. W. M. Stone Wheaton, IL

We had a (lack of) drainage issue in our backyard, encountering frequent ponding with heavy rains. Revive Your Lawn created a plan to resolve the issue, and was half the price of our other bid. They completed the work in less than half a day, and after a heavy rain this pasty weekend I'm happy to report no ponding. Highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Drainage Services

What are the signs I need a drainage system in my yard?

Common signs include standing water after rain, soggy or muddy patches, water pooling near your foundation, basement seepage, or landscape erosion. If you notice any of these, a drainage solution may be necessary to protect your home and lawn.

How much does your yard drainage service cost?

Most drainage projects in suburban Chicago start around $2,500, with more complex systems (like French drains or full lawn regrading) ranging from $3,500 to $15,000+ depending on property size, slope, and soil conditions.

Why is my lawn always wet or soggy after it rains?

If your lawn stays soggy after it rains, it’s likely due to compacted clay soil (common in Illinois), poor yard grading, or downspouts that discharge too close to your foundation. As Chicagoland drainage experts with 20+ years of experience, we solve this by designing custom systems that redirect water away from your home—protecting your lawn, foundation, and peace of mind.

What’s included in a free drainage inspection?

Our free drainage assessment includes a full property inspection: we check slope and grading, downspout discharge, soil absorption, and any low-lying areas prone to pooling. Then we create a personalized drainage plan based on your property’s layout and water issues—no pressure, no obligation.

Do you service Naperville, Elmhurst, and Downers Grove?

Absolutely! We serve homeowners throughout the Chicagoland area, including Naperville, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and beyond. If you’re in DuPage, Will, or Cook County, we’ve likely helped a neighbor near you.

Can outdoor drainage help prevent basement water issues?

Yes. In many cases, basement seepage or flooding is directly caused by improper yard grading or gutter runoff pooling near your foundation. Our exterior drainage systems redirect water before it reaches your home, reducing the risk of basement moisture and costly structural repairs.

What’s the difference between a French drain and a dry well?

A French drain uses a perforated pipe buried in gravel to collect and redirect groundwater. A dry well is a deep underground basin that holds and slowly disperses stormwater into the surrounding soil. We’ll recommend the right solution based on your lawn’s drainage needs and soil conditions.

Is there a minimum project size or cost?

Yes, our minimum project cost for drainage work is $2,500. This covers professional design, high-quality materials, and expert installation to ensure long-term results. We don’t cut corners, and neither should you when it comes to protecting your property.

Do you restore the lawn after the drainage work is done?

Yes—we leave your yard clean and beautiful. After installation, we can restore disturbed areas with fresh topsoil, reseeding, or sod so your lawn looks better than before. We also offer ongoing Lawn Maintenance and landscaping services for the greater Chicagoland area.
